Anatomy of a stitch
Four stages stand between a length of plain cloth and a Filora piece. None of them can be hurried — which is why the price is what it is.

Stage 01
The print
The design is block-printed onto the cloth in a washable ink. It is a guide for the needle, not part of the finished piece.

Stage 02
The frame
The cloth is held taut so that every stitch lands with the same tension. Too loose and it puckers; too tight and the weave pulls.

Stage 03
The needle
Stitch by stitch, often over days and through more than one pair of hands — one for the outline, another for the knots, another for the lattice.

The wash
The printed guide is washed away entirely. What remains is only the stitching — and the record of the hand that made it.
